DB media is design, motion graphics, audio, and video.   DB media is the visual and Dickie Beats is the audio, Donnie Bauer is both.   Donnie is a Chicago based artist with an extensive background in the arts with a focus on design and motion graphics.   Currently, working as a designer and silkscreen artist Donnie is under constant pursuit of keeping graphics fresh and his medias mixed.   Most work is influenced by urban lifestyles and organic forms, both beauty and chaos existing together in one place.   Donnie's illustrative urban style has caught the attention of XLR8R Magazine and Ecko Unlimited.   He will begin motion graphic work with Chicago's Digital Kitchen early January 2006.
Corn, cows, and grain mills!   These are just a few of the things that I got real familiar with growing up.   I'm the victim of a little town called Pontiac located conveniently in the middle of nowhere.   I really had no idea what a culturally diverse society looked like, or even sounded like.   I received quite a rude yet pleasant awakening when I ventured off to art school. I discovered a place called Chicago, and with Chicago came graffiti art, break dancing, MC's, and electronic music.   I loved every bit of it!  

As I grew as an artist my love for Chicago and urban living also grew.   At age eighteen I began my first "black book", sketching graffiti fonts on a regular basis.   Eventually my attraction to urban style was showing in all aspects of the art that I was doing.   I used the history of graffiti art as basis for a narrative animation, and the growth in activist stencil art as a subject for a motion graphic piece.   As my palette grew and my toolbox expanded I was always in pursuit of a new way to bring the beauty and the grit of city culture together.  

All in all, urban culture and Hip Hop style are all I really know.   I fell in love with this way of life years ago and never looked back.   Hip Hop and urban culture have indeed influenced my art, my music, and my everyday way of life.
