The Artists

Living and working in Manhattan, hip-hop and urban culture play a profound role in my everyday life, so to even try and separate them from the influence of my work would be impossible. I feel that hip-hop in its true form is a modern day form of philosophic expression; a linguistic representation of the lives we live and the cultures around us. As a lifestyle and documentary photographer my medium tries to run on these same lines, with my representation being purely visual.

Within my work, I cohabit an environment with the hip-hop community that serves as a ground for mutual respect in an effort to define the times we live in. I also see hip-hop as motivation for me to continue on this path and try to gain a future understanding of where we are headed as a unified people within our diverse community.

		Ryan Scherb is an emerging lifestyle photographer based in New York City. Born in North Carolina and raised in Connecticut, Ryan went on to study Psychology at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. During these years he spent much time overseas studying and traveling within the regions of Australia, Europe and Eastern Asia. It was here that Ryan's desire to document the different cultures and lifestyles he encountered manifested itself within a photographic medium. After college Ryan moved back north to New York to pursue work in film and television. His passionate hobby for photography soon came together with his career and Ryan worked as a production photographer. Soon Ryan decided to pursue photography full time and is now working as a lifestyle and advertising photographer in Manhattan.
